Parker-Evans began with a simple idea: that furniture made for dogs could offer the same craftsmanship, comfort and considered design as the finest pieces in our homes.
Inspired by our rescue dog, Willow, we brought together Darren's decades of traditional leather craftsmanship and Melanie's passion for interiors to create something truly distinctive.
Today, every Parker-Evans piece is individually handcrafted in Yorkshire, combining traditional upholstery skills with thoughtful design to create beautiful, enduring furniture for dogs.
Willow: Where Parker-Evans began
It began on a snowy walk in January 2021, when we found Willow abandoned and tied to a post. She was cold, underweight and frightened, with claws that had grown so long they curled beneath her paws. After a stay in kennels, where nobody came forward to claim her, she joined our family.
Willow slowly began to discover what it meant to feel safe. We adapted our home and routines around her, giving her the patience, reassurance and security she needed. In time, her confidence grew, although some fears proved harder to overcome.
She developed a wonderful love of the outdoors, but remained deeply frightened of water and being handled. Even wiping her muddy paws after a walk could be distressing. Ordinary fabric dog beds quickly became stained, damp and difficult to keep clean.
We wanted something better for her: a supportive, comfortable place to rest, with raised sides to help her feel secure. It needed to be practical enough for everyday life, yet beautifully made and at home alongside our furniture.
With Darren's experience in traditional leather upholstery and Melanie's love of interiors, we realised we had the skills to create exactly what Willow needed.
What began as a way of making one rescue dog's life more comfortable became the inspiration for Parker-Evans.
Darren Evans: Co- Founder and Master Craftsman
Darren is the craftsman behind Parker-Evans, bringing more than 40 years of experience in fine leatherwork, traditional upholstery and bespoke interior design.
His journey began in 1984 with a five-year apprenticeship as a traditional coach trimmer, learning skills rooted in the craftsmanship of horse-drawn carriages. It was an education in precision, patience and the importance of getting every detail right.
In 1992, Darren established his own business. Through dedication, skill and word of mouth, it grew into a respected workshop specialising in bespoke automotive interiors. His work has included interiors for prestigious marques such as Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Range Rover and Porsche.
Over the years, Darren has developed an exceptional understanding of leather, pattern making and upholstery construction. These are skills that cannot be rushed or replicated through mass production.
Today, he brings that same expertise to Parker-Evans, applying the standards of luxury automotive craftsmanship to furniture designed especially for dogs. Every curve, seam and carefully finished detail reflects a lifetime devoted to his craft.
Melanie - Co-Founder & Business Director
Melanie's love of beautiful interiors began at home. Her parents spent years renovating properties, and she grew up appreciating the creativity, hard work and practical skills involved in turning a house into a home. It gave her a lasting belief that furniture should not only look beautiful, but be comfortable, practical and made to last.
When Willow joined the family, Melanie struggled to find a dog bed that offered everything she wanted. She knew that Darren, with his experience in fine leatherwork and upholstery, could create something far more substantial and beautiful than anything else they had found.
That simple thought became the starting point for Parker-Evans.
Designing the furniture is very much a shared process. Melanie and Darren bring different ideas and perspectives to the table, often challenging each other's thinking. Where an idea presents a practical difficulty, Darren's understanding of leather and upholstery helps them find a solution. Through discussion, experimentation and the occasional compromise, their designs gradually take shape.
Alongside their shared approach to design, Melanie oversees much of the day-to-day running of Parker-Evans, balancing the work behind the scenes with the public-facing side of the business. She plays a central role in shaping the brand, building its identity and introducing the collection to a wider audience.
For Melanie, it's an opportunity to combine her love of beautiful homes with the satisfaction of building something worthwhile alongside Darren.
The Craft Behind Every Piece
At Parker-Evans, we approach every dog bed as a piece of furniture, applying the same traditional upholstery skills and attention to construction that Darren has developed over more than four decades working with fine leather.
Each piece is individually handcrafted to order in our Yorkshire workshop, beginning with a solid wooden frame that provides a strong and stable foundation.
The foam panels are carefully carved by hand to create the distinctive shapes and contours of each design, with an additional layer of memory foam providing extra comfort. This combination of skilled construction and considered cushioning creates furniture that is both supportive and beautifully proportioned.
Working with leather requires patience, precision and experience. Each panel must be carefully cut, shaped and stitched to achieve the clean lines and carefully finished details that define our collection.
Every element is considered, from the strength of the underlying structure to the comfort of the upholstery and the way the finished piece will sit within a home.
Our aim is simple: to create beautiful, practical furniture that dogs can enjoy every day and their owners can appreciate for years to come.

Made in Our Own Workshop
Every Parker-Evans bed is individually made in our workshop, with production kept deliberately small. This allows us to maintain a personal approach and give each piece the time and attention it deserves.
Practical by Design
Good design considers the details you don't immediately see. Our furniture sits on carefully designed feet, creating an elegant, almost floating appearance while allowing air to circulate freely beneath the bed. Combined with a ventilated wooden base, this helps the entire piece breathe, making it particularly well suited to homes with underfloor heating. The construction also helps reduce the overall weight without compromising the strength of the furniture.
